Summary (according to Goodreads.com) : The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of Our Lord…1743.
Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life, and shatter her heart. For here James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire—and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
Review: This Book was very well written. I loved how it took place during my two favorite eras (WW2 and the Highlands of Scotland.). The main Characters where very well written. Claire how ever was not my favorite at all, I see how with all the commotion going on after she went through time she could have forgotten her husband and lets face it who wouldn’t marry a sexy scot???? forced to or not. But, it almost seemed like she forgot about the husband she left behind as soon as she went through the rocks. Jamie, oh Jamie poor lad. I loved him and then felt sorry for him at the end quite honestly one part kinda confused me and I had to reread it with the audiobook in order to totally understand what the hell happened but I honestly didn’t like it. My favorite Character Over all I think had to be Jamie’s sister Jenny she took no sh*t from nobody, my type of lassie. Despite the horrendously long freaking chapters the story line was a face move it along yet steady and detailed pace which I really liked (except for the long chapters as said). One thing that I would have changed in the book was at least have one or two very detailed sex scene. All in all, though it was beautifully written and I will definitely finish the series. I give this book a total of 5 stars!
