Hey y’all!!!! So big plans for this coming year, I have planned out everything I want to blog about!!!! I got off on a rocky start but now life has finally kind of slowed down with the family dramas, the multiple moves and this ole whacked out body!!!!
So this month I’m going to finish up rereading Lover Revealed by J.R. Ward. I’m going to finish up the Dark series By Christine Feehan, The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward, and The Dark Hunter Series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Also I am going to be starting on the Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, The Fever Series by Marie Karen Moning and The Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charline Harris amongst mulptiple other books that may last me til the end of the year. I may even do a comparison blog for The Girl On the Train By Paula Hawkins between the book (which we all know will be ten time better) and the movie (onlt containing the tip of the iceberg.)
So until next time, happy reading and blessed be!!!!!!!
Rafael De La Cruz has spent centuries hunting vampires with his brothers, and with each passing year his capacity to feel emotions has grown weaker and weaker until finally there’s barely been a memory left-until only sheer willpower keeps him from turning into the very abomination he hunts. But it’ll take more than will to keep him away from the woman who is meant to be his and his alone…
For five years, rancher Colby Jansen has been the sole protector of her younger half-siblings, and with fierce determination and work she has kept her family together and the ranch operational. Now, the De La Cruz brothers are threatening that stability. They claim that her siblings belong with their father’s family, not with her. Colby vows to fight them-especially the cold and arrogant Rafael De La Cruz. But Rafael is after more than her family-he wants Colby and will not let anything stand between them. After ages of loneliness, the raw desire to possess her overwhelms his very soul, driving him to claim her as his

Where did I acquire this book: The Smithfield Library in Smithfield NC
Although tragic one of my favorite parts of this story is when Colby’s stables burned down because, it showed an example of the lifemate creed in action. It showed that eventhough Colby made it clear, she doesn’t like Rfael he would risk exposure and his life for her all in the name of her comfort.
I liked Colby alot she was not a D.I.D. (come on disney people!!!! For those of you that don’t know Hercules reference meaning “Damsel In Distress”) she was strong willed, protective and compassionate.
I REALLY liked Rafael De La Cruz!!!! He is sexy, protective, possessive, mysterious and come on he is a Carpathian Male!!!!
I really liked the conversation between Nicholas and Colby after Rafael gets hurt the first time. It is the start of the turning point of Rafael and Colby’s relationship because Colby started to understand (somewhat) what Rafael wasn’t telling her but also Christine Feehan fave us a deeper insight into the termoil of what Carpathian ales go through without their Lifemate.
Lastly, When Colby kept Rafael from the brink of death, healed him, plus kept everyone who was helping her who most never met her and where along was away awake well past the time that the sun should have claimed them to the dead sleep was a Holy Cow moment!!!! She also was still transitioning when she did it!!!!
Somethings I didn’t like:
~ In chapter 9 I seemed to get lost, Feehan never told us what the terms were in the contract. (unless I missed it) Colby Read the contract one moment, the next was like sitting there listening to a couple talking in code that only they got then WHAM BAM THANK YOU MA’AM they were jumping each other’s bones…..
~ Also it seemed like Sean Everett knew what was going on in some ways and it bothered that he never came out and say something but I could have been wrong because it was an impression.
4 out of 5. I didn’t give this 5 stars even though this is one of my favorites in the series I was alittle lost in some areas.
What book in the series is this??
including short stories this is book 15 in the 29 book series
without the short stories this book is book 12 of 29
I was NOT asked to review this book I just read it and wanted to blog about it because I did love it and I haven’t done a review in so long. Also the photos are not mine I googled it!!!!
This was a nice addition to the Dark Series. I honestly have gotten bored with the series itself due to repetition of what a Carpathian is and what a life mate is. as well as how they find each other. this book on the other hand was refreshing because, Christine introduced a new creature the Scarletti Jaguar clan. The Heroine is a blind pianist that falls in love with the Carpathian Byron. The Scarletti Palazzo is said to be cursed due to a series of unfortunate events (i.e. strange deaths, missing persons etc). Antonietta (the blind Scarletti) and Bryon embark on who is committing these latest crimes against the Scarletti family which sends them closer (at least Antonietta because Byron is already in love with her) to a romantic endeavor.
This book did have some lulls but kept up with a fast pace of Heroic life saving and life changing steamy sex, with a dash of Criminal minds Mystery. My favorite character in the book has to be Josef, Byron’s nephew, I mean come on that rap he did was hilariously jaw dropping. Josef also was quirky and young at heart. My least favorite character was Marita even though what was done to her was sad but I mean seriously if my kid had a family crest fall on her I wouldn’t let my cousin care for her while I play dramatics and faint. I would be there trying to be level headed and making sure my child was OK while I’m secretly freaking out.
My favorite scene was when Josef made the Gargoyle come to life as a prank on Byron, that was hilarious. My least favorite scene was when Marita kept fainting, she talks about how she is as strong as the Scarletti but when ever something bad happens she ends up fainting or screaming her head of.
but all in all again this was a refreshing change of events and has been steadily becoming more interesting over the last two or three books and I can’t wait to see where Feehan will take the Jaguar Clan in the up coming books and what other creatures lurk in the Carpathian world.
** spoiler alert ** I was astounded by the 5th Wave i wanted to keep reading, this book seemed more like a filler for what is about to come. So I’m hoping for a repeat reaction of the 5th wave with the next book. However, I did start to like Ringer better… A lot better. Vosch is The best Villain in the young adult books. He has topped my list of the top ten! He was methodical, he was more entity then person, kind of like the personification of death itself. He was terrifying. Ringer got some emotions in her FINALLY!!!
Like I said this second book seemed more of a filler for whats going to come next in the 5th Wave series. The story seemed to be dull and dragging on for ever in one part ant then the next it was like BAM!!! you’re sucked in and when your husband says lets go eat and you say ok after this chapter (which is only like a half a page) you end up reading that whole part and then its boring again and you have an annoyed husband. for my hubby if you are reading this “Look buddy I would not have know about this book if you hadn’t come home and said ‘Babe we must read this'” So it’s ALL YOUR FAULT!!!
Evan needs to figure out what he want’s to do live or be blown up he needs to stop trying to blow himself up it was heroic the first time, this second time all though not his fault, still ticked me off!!! I will be heart broken if he died. He’s my favorite!!! I liked Cassie I really did but in this book WOW she needed to pull on her big girl nannies and quit sitting around for this boy!!!! She had her brother to think about and whole bunch of other people that she made into sitting ducks.
the 7th part of this book you can tell Rick Yancey is building towards something. and that sparked my interest immensely. that whole sequence is what made this book in my opinion. My least favorite part is when Poundcake died…. That broke my feelers….:'( And the fact that most of this book was them deciding if they were going to leave the Walker Inn or stay sitting ducks.
All in all, my opinion of this second installment of the 5th Wave series are mixed but I definitely want to see what happens next for sure!!!
** spoiler alert ** Ever Since my husband came home from work saying “I want to read the 5th Wave. Its about to be a movie and I think I really want to read it first.” I was Floored!!!! One my husband doesn’t read…EVER!!!! Sure he might read a post about some fishing technique or and article about guns but actually reading a fictional book; he had to be pulling my leg. So a month later you could probably think what I thought when my husband STILL talking about this book/movie. So I was like ‘OK, Valentine’s Day is coming up and I still need to get him a gift. Maybe I will get him this book.’ So I did. He was ecstatic, I asked him “OK where is my husband because it is obvious you were abducted by the body snatchers.” SO he reads it, at least the intro… Now it is sitting in a box collecting dust….GREAT!!!
So months past we moved and I finally get around to it on my TBR List so I can get all my goal books of this year. I didn’t feel like moving boxes of Christmas Decorations and my boxes of books so I took the lazy route and grabbed it from the library. Later that day I finish the current book that I was reading and started on The 5th Wave. Let me tell you, Rick Yancey had me hooked within the first chapter. I’m not one for a Dooms Day ANYTHING. But this book had EVERYTHING in it. action packed, Nail biting suspense, a Romeo and Juliet love connection and last but not least Extraterrestrials from another planet.
my favorite character in this book was Evan Walker. Evan Walker did have that “I’m Edward Cullen” thing going at the beginning and then the “I’ll be back” terminator mantra going at the end. He was every girls dream Chocolate brown eyes, and he told the protagonist of the book (Cassie) things to make your liver, quiver. 🙂 oh yea the down side to the perfect boyfriend was he is an alien…….
The best Scene(s) of the whole book in my opinion was when Evan called Cassie a Mayfly, I don’t know why but it was sweet. the other was the last bit when Camp Haven blew up into Smithereens. It was nail biting and on the edge of your seat will they make it out alive!!!! moments.
Least favorite Character was Vosch for obvious reasons but he is by far the most menacing villain in any Young adult book since the Maximiun Ride Series by James Patterson. and I didn’t like Ringer, To no emotions. I know that is what the camp was doing to people but jeez if Rick would have told me that she had emotions before the Waves hit, I would have looked at him like he had three heads!!!!
The Saddest scene was when Cassie saw her brother for the first time since letting him (begrudgingly) get on that bus to the holocaust death camp.
Speaking of Death camps I did find some of the aspects of the story very similar to World War 2. For example, which kind of states the obvious; Camp Haven. Although The Nazis left the Jewish to sit there and waste away, Camp Haven trained the children how to be lean mean cold hearted killing machines (Ringer for example). Another example is how the people left over from the 3rd wave migrated together and hid out like in the movie Defiance with Liev Schreiber. I think this was why I really got into this book because I could see World War 2 playing a big role (these are only two of the examples that I saw.)
Rick Yancey’s writing reminded me of James Patterson’s with the Maximum Ride series. Short chapters, multiple point of views but mainly the lead character. I loved how there was no small character like sure Cassie is the main character but, in their own way they were all main characters; Even the Drill Sargent.
Things that I didn’t like about the book was, The symbolism of the Silver Cord and the circle of things. Where used way to much in my opinion. With that said how he used the symbolism I liked. Zombie’s sister’s necklace, a bullet from the gun all symbolizing a circle or Silver Cord.
All in all, this book was Phenomenal!!!! I can’t wait to read more and see what happens now and if they find each other.
Summary (according to Goodreads.com) : The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is just back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach—an “outlander”—in a Scotland torn by war and raiding border clans in the year of Our Lord…1743.
Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into the intrigues of lairds and spies that may threaten her life, and shatter her heart. For here James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, shows her a love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire—and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.
Review: This Book was very well written. I loved how it took place during my two favorite eras (WW2 and the Highlands of Scotland.). The main Characters where very well written. Claire how ever was not my favorite at all, I see how with all the commotion going on after she went through time she could have forgotten her husband and lets face it who wouldn’t marry a sexy scot???? forced to or not. But, it almost seemed like she forgot about the husband she left behind as soon as she went through the rocks. Jamie, oh Jamie poor lad. I loved him and then felt sorry for him at the end quite honestly one part kinda confused me and I had to reread it with the audiobook in order to totally understand what the hell happened but I honestly didn’t like it. My favorite Character Over all I think had to be Jamie’s sister Jenny she took no sh*t from nobody, my type of lassie. Despite the horrendously long freaking chapters the story line was a face move it along yet steady and detailed pace which I really liked (except for the long chapters as said). One thing that I would have changed in the book was at least have one or two very detailed sex scene. All in all, though it was beautifully written and I will definitely finish the series. I give this book a total of 5 stars!
So it’s 2015 and SUPRISE its a new year, everyone is either getting back onto the band wagon to work or like me watching kids and reading books!!! Ok, ok or at the gym working off that holiday laziness!!! So without further a do (I can say it but good luck trying to get me too actually spell it lol) My New years resolutions!!!!
Things I would like to do this year:
1.) Read 50 books (last year I read 36 I think so this year I could do more)
2.) Finally finish the book(s) I am writing. I will be happy if I just finish one of the four I am working on.
3.) loose atleast 100 pounds (doc’s orders is to loose 20 pounds by March. I’m not hugely morbidly obese just husky!!! I’m 5’5 and 239 pounds. So my goal is to get down to atleast 120-125. (all you health gurus out there I would love your help achieving this so your advice is very welcome here)
4.) I want to get back on the band wagon for a job
4 1/2) And to get on said band wagon I must first get my license (that’s right I’m 21 and I don’t have a license because I have a phobia to drive (THANKS MOM))
5.) Start College in the fall and get on the road to becoming a veterinarian. After my pit Grizzly died on November 19 from Parvo I have wanted to become a Veterinarian and start up my own practice and focus on those who can afford pet but can’t afford the medical portion of pet care. I know what you are all thinking ‘well if you cant give them the treatment it needs then you shouldn’t have a pet’ WHICH by the way grinds my bones. Normally, I can afford pet care normally but I had to go down to Florida where my grandpa was and see him before he kicks the bucket and by the time I came back Grizzly was just normal ole grizzly but I noticed that he would tire out very easily with my other dog Willow (husky/Shepard mix) so I kept my eye on him well he was doing that more and more and I thought well maybe he is just growing i’m goin to give him a few more days to recoup before I tell M that we need to see someone about this. The next day he was 40X worse puking and pooping everywhere call the hospital and it would have been close to $300 and we just didn’t have it just to get him there. the doc said wait it out till I can see him first thing in the morning. I got off the phone and called everyone I knew and with it being in the middle of the month no body had it so I called a friend down in Texas that I knew she could help tell me what I can do at home. LONG story short Grizzly di at 1:30 AM and I had to call my Aunt and tell her M and I are on our way to bury him next to Shane and Sugar (their horse n pit). On a happier note after my birthday M found an add online for a brindle Gator mouth pitbull for sale who was supposedly 6 wks runt of the litter. We took him for a check up the next day after we got him and turns out that he was really 4 weeks old and was not being fed properly his bones stuck out and he was probably a product of a puppy mill for he was very skittish. Where the couple we got him from got him from I have no clue. ok, my rant and babble is over and everyone have a safe and fun new year!
